WE AIM FOR

EMPOWERED
newcomer leaders

NEW FACES in traditional leadership networks

NEW CONVERSATIONS spurring from these new points of view

NEW IDEAS, DATA AND NARRATIVES that reach people at scale

HOW IT’S DONE

By creating a pipeline for public leadership with simultaneous operations

Local Participative Workshops
Sept. 2022 – Jan. 2023

A series of practical 3 hour training in-person workshops that aim to foster fruitful collaborative partnerships between local actors and newcomers. This first experiment is conducted with participants from Seine Saint-Denis, close to Paris :

7 local actors and 20 newcomer leaders. Newcomers and local actors first train separately before a joint session to initiate projects together.

Our goal for newcomers?

To provide them with the tools necessary to become bold self-advocates, able to support their host society and government in the creation of effective policies, as well as themselves and their communities

Our goal for local actors?

To foster a deeper understanding of the value of maintaining an unbiased mindset when working with newcomers, as well as knowledge of how best to implement these principles in practice.

Fellowship

Oct. 2022 – May 2023

An 8-month learning journey of online challenges where in 2,5 hours, 55 participants from all over Europe experiment applying best practices from the public leadership sector in practical, real-world situations.

April 2022 – 2024

A two-year professional opportunity for high-potential dynamic newcomer leaders to penetrate networks and be recognised in mainstream networks by becoming inspiring facilitators and public influencers.

During regular online meet-ups and in-person seminars and networking events, they will collaborate and exchange with other leaders from different backgrounds and areas in Europe in order to redefine the concept and practice of newcomer and responsible leadership.

Accelerator

These programs are part of the Emerging Leaders incubator, led by the Emerging Leaders Consortium, which promotes a whole system approach to change in public leadership that involves different actors. The consortium is a roundtable of partners who aim to achieve the shared vision through collective impact.

These three programs are a first step to further actions that aim to further accelerate newcomer leadership in the public sector long-term.

HOW DO WE KNOW IT WORKS?

Two successful pilot programs run respectively in France in 2020 with the German Marshall Fund and at European scale in 2021 with the BMW Foundation confirm the need and provide the methodology, critical mass of newcomers,  trained trainers and alliances to bring depth, scale and sustainability for broader impact on the topic.

Emerging Leaders is also the recipient of the 2021  Intercultural Innovation Award by the United Nations.

EMERGING LEADERS CONSORTIUM

The time is now to accelerate newcomer leadership in the public sector. We call upon institutions, companies, CSOs and individuals to work together towards a common goal of fostering new embodiments of leadership, creating inclusive spaces and communities and initiating lasting change in European public leadership.
