Crafting masculinity in the 21st century

Bolewa Sabourin, Dancer, Choreographer, Artivist, Author of La rage de vivre  and Founder of LOBA

Bolewa Sabourin is a champion for changing the status quo – for breaking down the systems that drive our societies today by allowing under-represented groups to rise up. A proud feminist, he is vocal on the question of masculinity and the need to move past the era of male domination and perceived invulnerability, for the betterment of everyone involved.

As a professional dancer and choreographer, he works with Nobel prize winning doctor, Dr Mukwege, to offer dance therapy to survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo as they reappropriate their bodies.

Entrepreneur and activist, he inspires others to question and rise up through his many projects. Through LOBA, the civil society organization he co-founded, Bolewa advocates for pluriculturalism through the arts. A published author, his book “La rage de vivre” (“Raging to be alive”) is an intimate take on what made him into the man he is today.

Bolewa has been a part of the PLACE collective since 2017 – regularly bringing power and energy to PLACE Catalysts as they embody their leadership roles in a changing Europe.
