THE STARTING POINT

European societies need more and stronger voices with a recent history of migration to shape public debate and decisions. We need new voices of influence on the complex challenges our societies are facing.

Let’s create the conditions for eye-level interactions for new voices. Let’s fuel established leadership networks with new voices that can carry new conversations that need to happen.

WE AIM FOR

EMPOWERED
newcomer leaders

NEW FACES in traditional leadership networks

NEW CONVERSATIONS spurring from these new points of view

NEW IDEAS, DATA AND NARRATIVES that reach people at scale

We call on public leaders and circles of influence to have emerging leaders speaking up at decision-making tables in the next 5 years.

OUR SHARED VISION

A public leadership incubator for newcomers

A reliable pathway for refugees and migrants to penetrate public leadership networks in Europe

THIS IS WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN 5 YEARS

  • A critical mass of individual emerging leaders with mainstream visibility and credibility within established networks
  • A strong collective of newcomer voices with tools for joint advocacy on priority topics
  • A tested, scalable approach for training public officials and newcomers to collaborate and co-build solutions effectively on emerging topics
  • Effective tools to inspire more newcomers, and in particular youth and women, to proactively get engaged in public leadership in their new societies

Proven ways to reach millions in mainstream audiences to shift the narrative on migration through new empowered voices

HOW DO WE GET THERE?

   Answer #1:

By applying a wholesystem approach that involves different actors

The consortium is a roundtable of partners who aim to achieve the shared vision through collective impact. They join forces in practice to make it happen.

   Answer #2:

By creating a pipeline for public leadership with simultaneous operations

HOW DO WE KNOW IT WORKS?

Two successful pilot programs run respectively in France in 2020 with the German Marshall Fund and at European scale in 2021 with the BMW Foundation confirm the need and provide the methodology, critical mass of newcomers,  trained trainers and alliances to bring depth, scale and sustainability for broader impact on the topic.

Emerging Leaders is also the recipient of the 2021  Intercultural Innovation Award by the United Nations.
